The Conservatory of Dance & Theatre presents the light-hearted comedy ballet Coppélia, Saturday, April 28 at 7pm and Sunday, April 29 at 4pm at the Galax High School Auditorium, Galax, Virginia.

Coppélia is one of the 19th century's bounciest ballets. Conservatory artistic director and former professional ballerina, Barbara Johnson presents a world of quarrelling lovers, of toys prancing into life, of cheery peasants who proudly perform their national dances. Delibes' musical score lilts and sparkles, carrying the story along. With additional choreography by Johnson the production is full of bright steps and mischief.

Like The Nutcracker, Coppélia is drawn from an ETA Hoffmann tale and is a lighter, sunnier ballet. Coppélia is perfect for children.

This ballet will be the final Conservatory performance for high school seniors Jenna Jackson and Kristen Wood.

Tickets are adults $10 and students $5. For more information contact the Conservatory of Dance & Theatre 276-236-2710.
